WIND UP TOY
jack got a little wind-up toy
but the plaything didn't last
rusty gears all squeaky mess
and the paint came off way way too
fast
well he chucked the thing into the trash
said "i've had enough of that"
no one told him that it wasn't right
that you can't just do that
wind-up woke up in a state
all desperate and alone
wondering how jack could forget
how could he make the boy atone
that reject
that tin man
that thing of springs and gears and
thoughts
he's ready
he's angry
look out man
he's not alone
fast forward it's another day
on a bare suburban street
kid walks with his eyes to the ground
kicking trash off to the drain
sun glints on a spot of metal
that becomes a blinding glare
there's windup haloed in sunspots
and he brought all his friends
there's your story your
your pointed tale don't
don't throw your toys out
and leave them aware
cuz that tin man
that reject
that man of springs
he's on his feet again
found him some
weaponry
wind-up wind-up wind-up wind-up ...
